He “Misspoke,” kinda like Biden does daily…. “The AARP would not be endorsing a bill if it was undermining Medicare”

President Barack Obama misspoke when he said yesterday that the AARP was “endorsing” the Democratic health care proposal, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said today. “Well, first of all, another myth that we’ve been hearing about is this notion that somehow we’re going to be cutting your Medicare benefits. We are not,” Obama said at a town hall meeting in Portsmouth, N.H. “AARP would not be endorsing a bill if it was undermining Medicare, okay?”

At today’s press briefing, in the wake of the AARP statement, White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs stepped back from the president’s comments in New Hampshire.“What the president said–the AARP has said they are certainly supportive for years of health care reform that is comprehensive,” Gibbs said.

When a reporter asked if the president misspoke, Gibbs answered, “Yes.”The AARP statement had said it was “inaccurate” to indicate it had endorsed any of the health care reform bills under consideration in Congress.
